MissionsDr. James Standefer and Dr. Rainald Duerkson led a super discussion on whether visiting ophthalmologists are giving more help or harm to the communities that they are serving as they volunteer.

Questions that we were challenged to answer were the following:


What are the real needs of the people?

Do we understand the communities we serve?

Do you have the skills?

Who is taking care of the patients after you leave?

What much money is spent for each sight restoration?

What is your sight restoration rate?

Is free service a good thing?

How legal is what you do?
